News & Information

Hello and Welcome to my website!

This serves as the home base for J.T. Turner, actor, director, storyteller and stage combat choreographer. I really appreciate your stopping by. The site contains information on my current projects, my resume and the many odd things I do. Please feel free to contact me regarding any acting gigs, storytelling gigs, or combat choreography.

The quick overview goes like this. I am a professional actor, member of Actors Equity, the Screen Actors Guild, and the American Federation of TV and Radio Artists. That means I act onstage, in film, and TV and radio. Much of my work is in the area of voice-overs.

I also am the director of moonlight productions, inc., a non-profit theater company I run with Sandi Nason. Check us out by clicking here.

I have been a professional storyteller for years, and offer many in-school programs. For the past 3 years, I have toured schools as Temperence speaker John Gough. Check out my list of storytelling characters.

And I have been swordfighting and choreographing stage combat for many years, and am a proud member of the Society of American Fight Directors.

Thanks for stopping by the site, I'd love to hear from you!

IT'S A HIT!!!!!!

Kiss Me Kate at the Lyric stage (www.lyricstage.com), is open and running to great houses and reviews!

Neil A. Casey (First Man) and J.T. Turner (Second Man) play it for all they're worth and then some, especially in the ditty "Brush Up Your Shakespeare." (I've never been crazy about that bit in the past, but Casey and Turner turned me around.) ....BroadwayWorld.com

The addition of a pair of gun-slinging, stage-struck thugs, out to collect a gambling debt from Graham, gave Porter a chance to write his gag-encrusted adoration to the Bard, the Act II show-stopping song, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare........ And in the roles that were Porter’s gift to the generations of stage clowns, Neil A. Casey and J.T. Turner as the Shakespeare-spouting hoods, have topped their previous excellent outings on the local stages.......The Patriot Ledger

The presence of a pair of gangsters (played by Neil A. Casey and J.T. Turner) doesn’t make a whole lot of sense plot-wise, but I was glad they were there, especially when Casey and Turner warbled “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.’’....Boston Globe

General Harrison Howell, delivers a particularly wonderful comic relief in the second act when paired with the gangster team of J.T. Turner and Neil A. Casey. .....The Tufts Daily

Neil A. Casey (The Mystery of Irma Vep at Lyric) and J.T. Turner (Benjamin Franklin in Lyric’s 1776) as the gangsters have their moments of hilarity ... Boston Edge

I am so proud to be a part of this show, which features great leads and one of the finest ensembles I have worked with!

Summertime!
Posted by : jt on Wednesday, July 08, 2009 - 10:13 PM EST
News

It has started off as a very busy summer! I will be appearing as Truffledino in A Servant of Two Masters on the Town Green in Ipswich, MA on August 7 and 8 at 6:30. Our summer workshops for kids are totally booked, and we have just added a Jedi Training Workshop to our lineup, August 10-14, 9am-noon at First Church in Ipswich.

I also spend a week working at an inner city literacy camp in Philadelphia, with some great counselors and kids.

OGLE AWARD! For the second year in a row, I am honored to receive an award given for the best Science Fiction and Fantasy audio works. Colonial Radio Theater's version of Ray Bradburys Halloween Tree received a Silver Award. I narrated this piece,  and this is added to last years Silver Award for Colonials Something Wicked This Way Comes, in which I play Mr. Dark. Kudos to Jerry Robbins, who runs Colonial and produced both!

In the recording studio, I have been doing description for the great PBS cartoon Martha Speaks! And in great news, I have been cast in the Lyric Stage Company's fall production of Kiss Me Kate as a gangster!

Hope to see you at a show soon!

I am heading down to Guatemala soon. This will be my 5th trip, my 3rd to Village Concepcion where I volunteer with Partners In Development. They run a clinic, build houses, help out in the school, sponsor children and give micro grants to start businesses. My personal goal this trip is to launch a chess program in the small school in the village. Friends of mine donated money, I got 10 chess sets and a teaching board, and am hoping to improve the quality of life for some kids.

Look for news about Aida, and our various summer shows and workshops, over at www.moonlightproductions.org
